If you have an old door lying around, or like the look of salvaged wood, this is the perfect project for you! It can be put up anywhere in your house and serve as entertainment for the kids, or an important place for you to write messages. It could also be used to keep score when playing board games.

What You’ll Need

  • 1 Panel door
  • Chalkboard paint
  • Painter’s tape

What To Do

  1. Prepare your door by removing any knobs/handles and hinges still attached to it. Once done, give it a good wash with warm soapy water. You may want to use a dishwashing sponge to remove any tough dirt.
  2. Once your door is clean and dry, tape off your door panels to protect the finish and keep the appearance neat.
  3. Now get out your chalkboard paint and paint the areas you wish to have it on. 2-3 coats should be enough, but be sure to read and follow the instructions on the can. Once done, leave to cure.
  4. Once you have allowed your chalkboard paint to cure and everything is completely dry, cut the tape edges with a craft knife to ensure easy removal and a clean finish.
