Make a planter’s yardstick
What you will need:
- 10cm x 120cm piece of wood
- Table Saw
Method:
- Take your piece of wood and bevel one of the long edges with a table saw – shave it at a 45-degree angle.
- Along the other long edge, cut alternating deep and shallow triangular notches at 15cm intervals.
- When planting seeds or setting out young plants, use the sharp edge to help make a furrow.
- Lay the board on its side, and use the intervals to help you space the seeds and seedlings evenly.
Note: different plants need different gaps. Lettuce needs 15cm intervals while tomatoes need about 60cm intervals.
