What you will need:

  • 1 Wooden-shipping pallet
  • 4 Square beam cut-offs (Used for legs)
  • Handsaw
  • Screwdriver
  • Pen
  • Sanding paper
  • Filler
  • Paintbrushes
  • Wood sealer
  • Paint (Of choice)
  • 4 Big angle irons
  • 3 Medium angle irons
  • Screws
  • 7 Jointing plates
  • Wood glue

Method:

  1. Divide the pallet in half so that top slats are still intact
  2. Take one half of the divided pallet and turn it over.
  3. Attach square beams (legs) to each corner using glue and angle irons on the inside.
  4. Reinforce the legs with jointing plates on the outside.
  5. This has created your seat area of the sofa.
  6. Attach other half of the pallet to the seating area as the back support using joint plates to keep in place.
  7. Reinforce with angle irons where the seat meets the backrest.
  8. Once the pallet sofa is stable and solid apply filler to any cracks and holes.
  9. Allow filler to dry and sand down the entire surface.
  10. Brush surface down after sanding.
  11. Apply a wood sealer to all the filled areas and allow to dry.
  12. Once the sealer is dry your pallet sofa is ready to be painted in the colour of your choice.
  13. When dry, place in your desired area and rate with throw pillows for comfort.
